Dear Connecticut College community,
A wind advisory has been issued for New London County beginning at 2 p.m. Friday through early Sunday morning as a coastal storm moves into the region. The current forecast calls for wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, along with periods of rain.
Because of the forecast, the College Waterfront will be closed this weekend. Additional information about the timing of the closure will be shared once confirmed.
Strong winds may bring down tree limbs and could lead to power outages. Please take the following precautions:
Charge phones, laptops and other electronic devices in advance of the storm.
Try to avoid traveling around campus during the storm, but if you must, use caution - and avoid if possible - when walking near trees, power lines and outdoor structures.
Stay alert for fallen limbs, debris or other hazards while moving around campus.
Please be mindful of any barriers around campus.
Secure loose outdoor items when possible.
If you have a vehicle on campus, consider moving it away from trees.
Use flashlights during a power outage. Do not use candles or other open-flame lighting inside residence halls, houses or apartments.
Please report downed wires, fallen trees, flooding or other hazards to Campus Safety as soon as possible at 860-439-2222 or through the Rave Guardian app.
The College will continue to monitor the storm and campus conditions and will provide additional updates as needed.
